Dental Implants

Before the development of dental implants, dentures and crowns were the only alternatives for replacing a missing tooth or teeth. But dental implants have become the premier tooth replacement method because of their convenience, comfort, and function. In fact, implants are so well designed that they mimic the look and feel of natural teeth.

Implants replace both the tooth and the root for superior support and lasting function. Because the lower portion of the implant is placed directly into the bone where the original tooth was lost, it stops that bone from deteriorating, keeps your jaw and gums healthier, and allows for a more youthful look. In some cases, implants are used to attach dentures.

How Implants Work
The first step in the implant process is to determine whether you have enough bone to support the implant. If you do not, we may recommend a bone graft, or fit you for our comfortable full or partial dentures. If you are a candidate, we will refer you to a trusted oral surgeon for the placement of the implant post and wait for it to integrate with your jaw for total stability. You will wear an attractive temporary restoration while we custom craft your implant crown. Once the post has completely healed in place, we will finish the process by applying the replacement crown. Like any restoration, implants require diligent oral hygiene and proper maintenance to ensure they last a long time.
